Elsa

We loved having Martin, our 1st French student, stay with us last summer so much that we decided to do it again.  We signed up early this time and picked out our student.  I wanted to have a girl this time and picked Elsa.  I mostly picked her because she lives in Justin's mission area, very close to where he is at right now.
She arrived on July 7th and its been so much fun getting to know her.  She is a beautiful girl inside and out and we adore her. She is an only child so she has really enjoyed being around Jared and Kamryn and their friends and cousins.  This is her first trip to America and it has been a dream of hers for a long time.  Hopefully she hasn't been too disappointed.  We have kept her pretty busy doing and seeing things and places.  Here's a list of what we've done so far:

  • Shopping at the Gateway and Fashion Place mall
  • 7 peaks
  • Temple Square and Gallivan Center
  • Burger King - we had to show her there other things besides McDonalds :)
  • English tutoring with Brooke
  • Bastille party
  • Learning French games
  • Picnic at the park
  • Cookout up the canyons - 1st time to have chili cheese dog and smores
  • 7 peaks again
  • Swim at Rec Center
  • Trip to the U and SL Library
  • Movies
  • Church - all 3 hours all 3 weeks
  • Bridal Veil Falls
  • dinner at La Cocina
  • Breakfast at Mimi's cafe
  • family swim party
  • time up at our family cabin
Still to come in her last week here:
  • Park City
  • Bees baseball game
  • 24th Pioneer Day/Butlerville Days parade and activities/fireworks
  • 7 Peaks in Provo
  • City Creek
We will be very sad to have her leave and would love it if she were staying the whole school year.  We do look forward to visiting her next spring when we go to France.
More posts to come with photos of some of these fun outings.  One of the best things about having a French student stay with us is we also get to do all these fun things and keep our summer busy and full of activities :)
