Highlights with Arthur - Week 3

To start out the 3rd week we went down to Provo for Justin's mission president's homecoming.
After the meeting there was a big reunion party lunch at his estate

Arthur with Justin's MTC companion,  Elder Joseph Ashton

Justin and  Elder Zoram Dean, companions in Montpellier

Elder James Wulfenstein and Justin were comps in the MTC

Arthur meeting President Roney
the whole family with President and Sister Roney
(except Jared who didn't want to go to Zions and stayed at the Byers)

From Provo we drove down to St George so we could go to Zions and hike the narrows with Arthur

We love this hike and I don't think we'll ever get tired of doing it!

Next up was Bastille day, which we learned this year, the French do not refer to it as Bastille day, but as the 14th of July.  Just like we say the 4th of July.

My awesome friend, Michelle, hosts a "14th of July" party every year at her house and this year she invited all the french students and their host families (about 1/2 could come)

preparing to sing a traditional French anthem for us

visiting and eating French food

It worked out perfectly that our ward had scheduled the scouts high adventure activity while Arthur was staying with us.  His parents were happy for him to go with them.  They went to Hinckley Ranch and had a great time.

Taylor, Arthur, Logan, Caleb

The boys were able to shoot guns, go mountain boarding, mtn biking, climbing and repelling.  On the way home they stopped at Provo River Falls to show Arthur where we love to camp and hike.

Highlights with Arthur - Week 2

Fun at the Bees Game

going to get "african" ice
with Sarah, another French student that stayed in our neighborhood

Of course we had to take him up to the U

Arthur taught us how to go geocaching
we found 3 right close to our house
One of Arthur's dreams was to go to a NBA game
Luckily the JAZZ were playing summer games
and he was able to go with 2 of the other French students, Cyrielle and Leah

One of Arthur's favorite things that we did was going to Airborne.
He did some amazing tricks - he's a gymnast :)

After Airborne we went to a Chinese buffet - that was fun to watch all those boys fill up
Our whole family did the BUBBLE RUN
what a blast

for the almost 5K race, there were parts of the course where you would run through these bogs of different colored bubbles - lots of good clean fun,
except for Arthur who had fun sliding through the mud too

Highlights with Arthur - Week 1

Arthur arrives with 14 other French students

our tall family made Arthur look really short
he's 14 and the same height as Jared and Kamryn who are 10

Arthur loved to go over swimming at the outdoor pools
He had his own pass and even went on his own a couple times

for his FHE we played water baseball in our backyard
with a few of our friends and their families

Having fun making tie-die shirts in my friends backyard. They turned out SO COOL!

We were very lucky to have the cabin the 1st week of July and be able to be up there for the 4th.

We all went on the hike to Blood Lake and lots of the kids had fun going off the rope swing

Kierra with Pernelle and Arthur
Pernelle was one of the french students and spent the weekend with us at the cabin

We did lots of hiking while we were at the cabin but we also had some nice down time

Playing CRUD

We also play lots of games while we are at the cabin
Pernelle and Arthur also taught us a french card game
